A couple of weeks ago I was invited down to Ojo Rojo (Pronounced Ocko Roko – which translates to ‘Red eye’ and describes someone living life to the fullest and having all the fun!) in Bournemouth with some Bournemouth bloggers to take part in their weekly quiz night! I absolutely love a quiz, so I was so up for it plus I was intrigued to see what Ojo Rojo was like as I’d never been before.
Ojo Rojo is situated near the Triangle in Bournemouth – and opened because of a trip to a street food eatery in Mexico, and wishing there was somewhere in Bournemouth like it. And so Ojo Rojo was born.
Now, we were very kindly invited down for their quiz night, but also to try some drinks and food. And let me tell you it is AMAZING!
Lets start with the food, as i’m all about that! We were brought out some sharing plates filled with salsa, guacamole, sweetcorn salsa (which was DELISH!), nacho chips and some fresh bread. Oh my god – so simple yet so great!
And then came out of two huge plates of nacho’s with all the trimmings, which we happily polished off. I would fully recommend, especially as a sharer if you’re going to the quiz night! Perfect! As well as that some gorgeous sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo! Again they were a huge hit!
We also had a peruse of their drinks menu. There was so much choice and they had their very own tequila menu – full of amazing sounding cocktails. I was designated driver so didn’t partake but they looked incredible, and everyone raved about them!
Next lets talk about the main event – the quiz! Like I said before I love a quiz, and this was no exception! It was so much fun, and had lots of different rounds. Harrison came up with our team name ‘ lets get quizzical’.
We started with a music round and had to name the artist of who’s song was playing. Round 2 was an anagram of a celebrity name, which I must say took us a while, and again it was Harrison that managed to figure the answer out! Round 3 was a general knowledge round (not my strong point) but there was a huge mix of questions that we managed to get a few right! Next is the random round – which I believe changes each week. We were given a sheet of tin foil and had to use our creative minds and make something to impress the judges, we went for a tequila cup and a plate of nachos, which scored a good 4 points. And the last round we had to guess the years of certain songs ( we annoyingly got a few years wrong by 1 year! argghh!)
Altogether we had such a brilliant night, and I couldn’t fault the food & drinks, and the quiz itself was great fun – My only little qualm is that each round had quite a long break, and it being a week night it finished quite late. ( BUT that could just be me as i’m a granny and like to be in bed early! ha ha!)
It is definitely a place I will be recommending, and will definitely take some friends to go take part in the quiz again.
Big thank you to Ojo Rojo for having us! x
*We were kindly invited down to Ojo Rojo for the quiz & food and drinks for free in exchange for a blog post – however all thoughts and opinions are my own!
