On Saturday 29th of July I will be turning 25 years old, and to celebrate we held a luau/ tiki party yesterday. We’ve had this planned for a month or so and naively thought it would be nice and sunny as it is July. How wrong we were, the rain started on Tuesday and didn’t really ease up all week, thankfully my dad and Pete’s parents were on hand with gazebo’s and marquees which meant we could still be outside. We had such a great day and I thought I would show you how we threw our party!

I knew I wanted a luau/tiki theme as its summer and i love all the bright colours and palm trees, i also had a tropical fancy dress. flowers and leis!

Pallet Bar

I have wanted to make Pallet furniture ever since we moved into our new house, we considered a sofa but thought it would take too much room up, so after some pinteresting we found pallet bars. We decided to have a go and make our own, made up of 2 pallets, some decking and lots of colourful paints. I’m so happy with how it turned out, we added a bottle opener to it and decorated it with lots of different dispensers filled with cocktails and colourful straws.

I wanted to add lots of palm trees, flamingos and bright colours. I found most of my decorations on eBay and Peeks party store.

I love decorating anywhere that can be seen even if that means wrapping lei’s up the banister.

A party is not a party without balloons, i picked some confetti balloons that I found at New Look, and thought they looked great as well as getting some helium foil balloons for peeks – they also make great props for photos – and in our case lots of boomerangs. (If you follow me on instagram – You’ll understand!)

We turned our old circle chopping board into lemon and lime slices, perfect serving trays and they look great!

Pete attached some citronella candles to the bar – great idea to keep the bugs away from your drinks!

I found these props in new look, and loved them. A set of 10 different tropical props perfect for some cute pictures with your friends, without spending hundreds on a photobooth!

We had such a great day with a BBQ, plenty of drinks, music, dancing and just having a great time with friends!

Now for a week of more birthday fun before Saturday, I hope you enjoyed this post and its made me realise how much I LOVE throwing and hosting parties!
