I scream for ice cream

6,498 total views, 1 views today

Yes it’s that time again for a foodie Friday and before you think liz you’re 3 days into lent and you’ve already broken it? No, I haven’t crumbled that easily – this chocolatey goodness was enjoyed from my visit to Gigi Gelateria back in December.

*Now quick disclaimer I went to Gigi’s with the Bournemouth bloggers for a press event, and were given complimentary food and drink. I was not asked to write this post I’m writing today, and as always thoughts and opinions are my own!*

I had never heard of Gigi’s before but I am a huge lover of proper Italian ice cream, especially since a holiday to Rome when I was a teenager and indulging in all the ice cream, so I couldn’t wait to see what they had in store!

We were welcomed in with open arms and met the wonderful Gigi. Such a friendly and welcoming man who moved to Bournemouth from Italy and wanted to see the UK how Italy do ice cream, and my god Gigi Gelateria does not disappoint! They make the ice cream in house every day using locally sourced dairy products and fruit that is in season and again sourced locally.

There were so many ice cream choices it was hard to choose, so we were able to have a taste of what tickled our fancy. I cannot recommend the pistachio enough! The black cherry was also a firm favourite.

Gigi’s do such a variety – we were also treated to some of their panini’s which were polished off very quickly as they were so good, and Milkshakes and waffles feature on their menu also.

The waffles are insane! They are a few dessert places round the Bournemouth area, but I can hand on heart say the waffles at Gigi’s blow the others out of the park. They’re fluffy, sweet, light and moreish!

I enjoyed the ice cream so much I even bought a big tub to take home for Pete and Jay. I cannot wait to head back in the warmer weather and I urge you to go too to get that taste of true Italian ice cream!

Hope you enjoyed this week’s foodie Friday, and I’ll catch you in my next post. xo
