Elf on the shelf ideas

I know what it’s like the week before December you think to yourself I know what will be fun ‘elf on the shelf’ and then your five days in falling asleep on the sofa after watching I’m a celeb on tv, and you’ve forgotten to move the elf into a different position. Or is that just me!??

We decided to do elf on the shelf as J is going through a bit of a hard patch at school and we thought this will be fun, plus if Santa has his friendly elf watching J every day then maybe the behaviour might slightly improve.

So I thought why not help others in need that may already by stuck for elf on the shelf ideas.

We’ve obviously only done a few it being our first year but I have a few ideas for the rest of the month, so hopefully this can inspire your elf too! Ha ha!

We ended up getting our elf and lots of his props from Poundland. They had these stickers that will stay up until he leaves, we got a swing, a magic key for him to bring on Christmas Eve to leave our for Santa, plus reports of their behaviour to take back to Santa! Plus loads more, the range also had beds, clothes, cars and a sleigh if you want to get really into it!

Other ideas – one from my sister in law that her kids loved is the elf helps to decorate the Christmas tree but with obscure things, she chose the kids pants and they both thought it was hysterical! Definitely one for the books!

Use things you have in the house – dependant on how mischievous your elf is, make a snow angel in some flour on the kitchen top, un roll a loo roll and tee pee the bathroom. They could make friends with some other toys your child owns, our elf bought a snap game and was found downstairs playing snap with a toy snowman.

A few more for you –

  • Snowball fight with marshmallows and another toy
  • Fishing with a candy cane and some string over the sink
  • Wrapping up something in the house
  • A bubble bath with cotton wool ball bubbles
  • Roasting marshmallows over a tea light
  • Elf building something out of Lego
  • Hot air balloon with a balloon, string and a cup
  • Bring popcorn for a Christmas movie night
  • Hide and seek
  • Skiing with ice lolly sticks down the staircase

I hope this post has given you a couple of ideas for your elf’s next antics!

See you tomorrow for another post! X
