Autumn Room Makeover – TJ Hughes

Now, If you know me, you will know i absolutely adore home ware. We recently bought our first house at the beginning of this year, & my favourite stores to go to are the ones I can pick up furnishings and accessories from.

I love being able to add certain touches when the seasons change, and I am loving our first autumn/winter here, however I have been struggling to make our living room seem more cosy during the colder months. We went for a very cool colour theme in the lounge of whites, creams and duck egg blue (which i absolutely love) but can feel a little cold at night, so I’m constantly on the lookout of ways to warm the room up and still sticking to the colour pallet.

So after doing some online browsing I think I have some perfect pieces which bring the right amount of autumn and cosy to our home.

I wanted to concentrate on our sofa, which is the staple of our living room, and where we spend a lot of our time in the evenings. I came across some cushions which I immediately loved, and found the perfect colour to match the rest of the room.

These are the Mongolian faux fur cushions in the colour Teal. These are so soft and warm, and perfect to break up all the browns of the sofa. I found even though these are also a colder colour, they bring a lot of warmth to the room with the texture and the slighter brighter colour.

Next I stumbled across what looked like the fluffiest throw. As you can see from the top picture I already own a blue throw, however I love having multiple, especially when friends come round and we can all get cosy and put a film on.

This is called a teddy faux fur throw, and oh my goodness I was not prepared for how unbelievably soft this is. It has already become my favourite and as you can see from above my four year olds favourite too! I would fully recommend this if you are looking for an in-expensive but good quality throw!

Next I picked up this little reindeer light! (I could not resist, and I’m fully aware its not Christmas for another 2 months!) But it’s so cute, and actually lets a lot of light off for the size of it. This is also great as you can have the option to put it on the wall if you don’t have any surface space available.

Lastly I picked out a candle – how could I not?(Huge sucker for candles!) This is brown sugar and cinnamon scented, and I decided to put it in my kitchen, for a more wintery scent. It smells divine, and isn’t too overpowering, plus I think it ties in my autumn themed window sill quite nicely.

All these items I picked out at TJ Hughes, which is a discount department store, with a wonderful online site. If you’re looking to spruce up your house for autumn, winter or just because you fancy it, I would recommend taking a look at TJ Hughes for some great quality but wonderfully budget friendly pieces.
