An outdoor Cinema at the Ageas Bowl

Last weekend we decided to spend our Saturday evening slightly differently to our usual, and headed over to the Hilton Ageas bowl in Southampton. A place I’m sure you know I love a lot by now – as I have visited both their spa and restaurant Beefy’s which I have linked if you’d like to read. However, this time we headed to one of their events they put on in the Ageas bowl – an outdoor cinema! Something I’ve wanted to do for ages, but never gotten around to. We were offered 2 tickets to go and see bohemian rhapsody, and being a huge queen fan i couldn’t wait!

We invited my parents to come along with us (they had paid for their tickets, for full transparency) and headed down, picnics, camping chairs and blankets at the ready.

I couldn’t believe how giant the actual Ageas bowl is! The green is huge, and to say there were close to 1000 people there we didn’t even make a dent compared to the size.

We set up, got some drinks from one of the bars, and of course sent in one of our photos to be played on the big screen!

There were plenty of vendors around too with some amazing looking hot dogs, sweets and ice creams, plus live music before the film started which was a wonderful touch, and the band sounded great!

The film of course was brilliant, and we were close to one of the speakers too so the sound was perfect! Such a brilliant evening doing something a little different! I also saw they had an afternoon film for the family too earlier in the day that showed Finding Nemo, which would have been perfect for J.

We also found the Hilton have some more great events coming up, including a gin and Prosecco festival, comedy nights & tribute nights for Queen and Elton John which you can find more about here.

A huge thank you to the Hilton for having us come along. It was so much fun, and here’s hoping they’ll do another next summer! Maybe I’ll put in my suggestion for the greatest showman or grease (can you tell I love a musical!?)
